Clover Time Controls Guide
Movement, broom flight, shift-lock, menu, and combat skill keys for keyboard players.
Clean inputs make Clover Time feel like the Black Clover fantasy it is selling. Miss the broom key or fight without shift-lock and even a strong Grimoire underperforms. This controls guide lists the default PC binds used throughout AnimeCore Studio’s Roblox beta, explains when each matter in the Hage → tower loop, and points you to sibling pages when a key unlocks a whole system. Read it beside Getting Started on day one, then return when you unlock flight or Anti-Magic awakening.
Mobile players should mirror these actions on the on-screen buttons Roblox provides; labels can differ slightly by device, but the verbs — move, sprint, jump, broom, lock camera, open menu, cast skills — stay the same. Check Updates if a patch rebinds anything, and use the Guides Hub to jump into How to Get a Grimoire or How to Reroll once movement is comfortable.
Default movement and camera
| Action | Default key |
|---|---|
| Move | W A S D |
| Sprint | Shift |
| Jump | Space |
| Summon broom | H |
| Shift-lock (camera lock) | Control |
| Menu | M |
WASD is standard Roblox locomotion. Hold Shift to sprint between gather nodes, quest markers, and chest routes in Hage Village. Space jumps for parkour ledges and short vertical checks before you own a broom.
Control toggles shift-lock, pinning the camera behind your character so melee strings and aimed skills track more predictably. Many players leave shift-lock on for combat and toggle it off for sightseeing or inventory work. If your camera feels floaty during boss telegraphs, turn shift-lock on before the pull.
M opens the menu — your gateway to Customize / Rolls (Race, Social Class, Traits), settings, and other account systems. When a guide says “Menu → Customize → Rolls,” that path starts with M. Full reroll steps live on How to Reroll.
Broom flight — key H
Press H to summon your broom after you complete the broom quest in the early Hage loop. Flight is not cosmetic: it shortens the trip to the Grimoire Tower, helps you sweep open-world Mana Crystal and chest spawns, and makes regrouping with squads realistic on a large map.
If H does nothing, you likely have not finished the broom quest yet. Follow Getting Started through gathering and the broom objective, then practice takeoffs in a safe area. Tower routing still works on foot via compass 105–120 or Finral’s teleport, but broom travel is the quality-of-life unlock you should prioritize.
Combat and Grimoire skill keys
Once a Grimoire is equipped, magic skills typically bind to a cluster such as E, R, Z, X, and C. Exact skill names depend on which book you rolled — Anti-Magic, Poison, Ice, Explosive Flame, and others each ship different kits. Learn the order of your combo in a low-threat zone before a world boss. Open the Grimoires tier list to understand what your kit is supposed to do, then practice the binds until muscle memory sticks.
Anti-Magic players should also learn the awakening input, commonly G. Awakening windows are easy to waste if you mash during a stun or after the enemy already committed a dodge. Practice the G timing the same way you practice Z/X/C strings.
Basic M1 / click attacks still matter before your first Grimoire and between cooldowns. Do not ignore movement while casting — sprint cancels, jump timing, and shift-lock facing separate good players from those who stand still in AoE.
Controls in the early progression loop
Map the binds to the real day-one path:
- Create & roll — Use the menu (M) paths when you need Race / Class / Trait rerolls later; do not confuse them with tower crystals.
- Hage tutorial — WASD + Shift + Space while you chop, fish, and mine.
- Broom quest — Unlock H flight.
- Tower run — Fly or walk with compass 105–120, or take Finral; spend Mana Crystals as described in How to Get a Grimoire.
- Combat climb — Skill keys + shift-lock for quests, bosses, squads, and AFK World farms.
Redeem Codes from the in-game codes UI (location can sit near menu/settings areas depending on build) so you are not under-geared while learning binds. When you theorycraft loadouts, pair this page with Best Builds, Races, Traits, and the main tier list. Broader wiki navigation: Wiki. Script tooling is listed under Scripts — know Roblox ToS before experimenting.
Troubleshooting common control issues
- Broom key dead — Finish the broom quest; confirm you are not in a cutscene or menu.
- Skills missing — Equip a Grimoire first; some skills unlock with stats or progression.
- Camera spinning in fights — Enable shift-lock with Control.
- Cannot find rerolls — Press M, open Customize, switch to Rolls, or visit the Hage church Priest.
- Key conflicts — Check Roblox and OS overlays; rebound conflicting push-to-talk or recorder hotkeys.
Beta patches from AnimeCore can tweak prompts or add controller hints. If something on this page disagrees with your live client, trust the client and skim Updates. Master these binds once and every other Clover Time guide becomes easier to execute.
